Due to unemployment, and thus financial hardship, I have changed my policy of not adding labor cost to my rosaries. I hope that you can understand why this is necessary and will continue to support my apostolate. At this time I need to support my family with my skills and resources. I have not added much to the cost of each item -- not as much as most vendors would, doubling or tripling their cost -- but just enough to contribute a small amount to my family's income.

Miraculous Medal Earrings

Three pair of these sparkly little earrings were created for a blogger friend to give to her daughters for Christmas. They turned out very pretty, and I will likely make a pair for myself. The earrings are sterling silver with one biconal Swarovski crystal above each dangling sterling Miraculous Medal.

This style earring would also be very pretty with a dangling sterling cross.

Ecce Homo

The Ecce Homo center of this strung rosary was the inspiration for the colors of the beads. The hand made clay 6mm Aves and 8 mm Paters are pearled black and white marble and evoke images of the sky on Good Friday. The clay beads are set apart by crystal Czech glass seed beads and tiny opaque black Japanese seed beads. The crucifix is a Papal Crucifix.

Ecce Homo is Latin for 'Behold the Man', the announcement made by Pontius Pilate when presenting the scourged Christ, wearing the crown of thorns, to the crowd.

These beads are strung on very strong, but lightweight and flexible, steel cable. They are double crimped for extra durability.

Crystal and Silver Bracelets

A good friend of mine asked me to create gift bracelets for the graduating senior players on her daughter's high school tennis team. The school colors are royal blue and black and the colors on these bracelets are gorgeous. This bracelet would be beautiful with a crucifix or medal attached in the middle. The picture does not do the crystals justice. They are really stunning.

This strung bracelet is made using Swarovski biconal clear and sapphire blue crystals, 3 mm sterling silver beads, and sterling silver oat beads. They are strung on a steel flexible wire and are 7-1/2 inches with a sterling silver lobster clasp.

Our Lady of Sorrows

Click on the picture to view a close-up.

This chaplet was created for a fellow homeschooling sister on the Ora board and, through creating it, I have learned how beautiful praying this chaplet can be. The Seven Sorrows of Mary, also known as the Seven Dolors, are contemplated through the seven sets of seven Aves and seven Paters.

This chaplet was created using medals depicting each of the Seven Sorrows as well as the first medal, depicting the image of Our Lady of Sorrows. The beads are gorgeous 6 mm fire-polished ruby red opaque Czech glass.

An antique

Rosary Repair

A few weeks ago I put a notice in my parish bulletin offering free rosary repair. I've had more than a few parishioners take me up on my offer and all have had their rosaries repaired and back in working order. I'm happy to do it, just to know someone is able to pray their rosary again. Several people said they tried to find someone to fix it, but had no luck.

I'm sending out the same offer here. If you have a rosary with broken links or chain, I will repair it for free -- just the cost of shipping. If you are missing beads, I can try to find a replacement and will fix it at cost. Just send me an e-mail.

St. Francis & St. Anthony Beads

This rosary honors two favorite saints of our household, St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony of Padua. The handmade clay beads are marbled dark brown and ivory, symbolic of the brown Franciscan robes and ivory belts. In between the handmade clay beads are coppery brown Czech glass beads --with an aura of blue -- and black Japanese glass beads. The center depicts St. Francis of Assisi on one side, and St. Anthony of Padua on the other. The San Damiano crucifix is the very one that brought St. Francis closer to God.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Mary's Blue Mantle

This strung rosary is made from marbled light and navy blue pearled polymer clay beads, frosted aqua Czech glass beads, and tiny navy blue Japanese seed beads. When I created the clay beads, I knew that this would have to be a rosary for Our Lady, as the colors are reminiscent of the many pictures we see of her depicted with her Blue Mantle. The pewter center is a wreath encircling a silhouette of Our Blessed Mother with a cluster of Dogwoods at the bottom. The pewter crucifix is simple, but striking. $30.00

This is one of my very first strung rosaries. I've been toying with the idea, since creating several rosary-style necklaces, but have been hesitant to give it a go. I didn't want to completely switch styles, as I love the old-fashioned link rosary, but, it was fun to put the colors together and I felt a little more creative stringing this rosary than I do linking beads. I will continue to make both styles.

I have made all of the Aves and Paters by hand -- they are glazed polymer clay. Polymer clay, once fired is very durable. I even did a few tests on my own, and the only way I was able to damage one was with a hammer. Though strong, it is very lightweight. However, the best thing about polymer clay is the color availability -- by mixing and marbling, an almost infinite number of colors and combinations are available. These rosaries are strung on very strong, but lightweight and flexible, steel cable. They are double crimped for extra durability.

Stay tuned -- next up -- St. Francis/St. Anthony.
