Due to unemployment, and thus financial hardship, I have changed my policy of not adding labor cost to my rosaries. I hope that you can understand why this is necessary and will continue to support my apostolate. At this time I need to support my family with my skills and resources. I have not added much to the cost of each item -- not as much as most vendors would, doubling or tripling their cost -- but just enough to contribute a small amount to my family's income.

Ave Maria, ora pro nobis peccatoribus

Pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

We say those word each time we pray the Hail Mary. They are powerful words, asking the Mother of God to pray for us, especially at the moment of our death. We should never forget that Mary will come to our aid, if we but ask.

The Father's Little Princess

I think every little girl has a tiny part inside her (or maybe not so tiny) which believes she is a princess. I think even in some grown women that part still exists. Sometimes that part becomes all-consuming, and greedy, and worldly. But it can be turned to good if we think of that princess as a princess of The Father. I believe God wants us to be His princess -- to be dedicated to him and to live in His kingdom.

If you have a little princess in your life, one who will make her First Holy Communion this year, or be Confirmed, or even if she is a grown-up princess, these lovely rosaries are just for her.

Embroidered Scapulars

Last fall, the young priest at our parish asked for volunteers to sew scapulars. I had never sewn a scapular, but I have and use a sewing machine, so I volunteered. He never asked for me to make them, but I did check online to find parts for them, unfortunately never having any good luck finding scapulars I could afford to give away in large quantities.

I finally approached the young Father again and told him I had not been fortuitous in finding parts, and he explained that technically they don't have to have anything written on them, and, in fact, can be two plain, tiny pieces of wool sewn to the ribbons, "as small as your tooth." I had no idea. I managed to find some 100% wool pieces on the internet and starting embroidering scapulars, with A/M on one side and Chi Rho on the other. I then decided to "try my hand" at a Sacred Heart design.

In the meantime I also found some kits that I could afford in large quantities, and could sew assembly line fashion for our priests. I decided that to support the "priest scapular fund" I would embroider scapulars to sell and I placed them in my Etsy shop. So far I've stayed pretty busy embroidering. One scapular takes about four hours to create.

If you are interested in an embroidered scapular, either leave a comment or email me using the email address in the sidebar. They are $11 each plus $3.50 for mailing. If you want to purchase one through Etsy using PayPal, go here.

Blue Opal Miraculous Medal Rosary

I have been very busy lately trying to keep up with requests for First Holy Communion rosaries. I have tried to keep my Etsy shop stocked, but I have to make some more to keep up. I hope all those little boys and girls are praying on their new rosaries!

This rosary would be a lovely gift for a First Communicant or Confirmande, or even for someone's mother at Mother's Day.

The Hail Mary beads are 6mm opal blue Czech glass, and the Our Father beads are white opal Czech glass with silver flower caps. The rosary is a link style, with a delicate Miraculous Medal at the center.

Ever Green and Fruitful

"St. John Damscene wrote of Our Blessed Mother's glorious Assumption: "For there was need that this dwelling meet for God, this undug well of remission's waters, this unploughed field of heaven's bread, this unwatered vineyard of immortality's wine, this olive-tree of the Father's compassion, ever green and fair and fruitful, be not imprisoned in the hollows of the earth. Rather, just as the holy and incorrupt body that had been born of her, the body that was united hypostatically to God the Word, rose from the tomb on the third day, so was there need that she too be snatched from the grave and the Mother restored to her Son; and, as He had descended to her, so she had to be carried up...to heaven itself."

The center of this rosary is one of my favorites (yes, I have many favorites). Our Blessed Mother standing at the Gate of Heaven...surrounded by flowers and ever greens.

Beautiful light moss-colored green Swarovski pearls are the Ave beads, paired with 8mm Aurora Borealis Swarovski crystal Pater Noster beads, brass caps, flanked by 4mm bicone crystals, and strung on 49-strand flexible steel wire with silver-lined clear and pearl white Czech glass seed beads.

The center and ornate scrolled crucifix are brass.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us

Oh ever immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Comfortess of the Afflicted, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings. Look upon me with mercy. When you appeared in the grotto of Lourdes, you made it a privileged sanctuary where you dispense your favors, and where many sufferers have obtained the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and corporal. I come, therefore, with unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. My loving Mother, obtain my request. I will try to imitate your virtues so that I may one day share your company and bless you in eternity. Amen.

The center on this rosary is one of my favorites. In fact, it is the center on the rosary I use most often. Since I was a young girl, I have had an attachment to Our Lady of Lourdes. At the school I attended as a young girl, we had a beautiful grotto, where I imagine I first developed that attachment. I think most young girls would love to imagine themselves in Bernadette's shoes, kneeling at the foot of Our Blessed Mother.

The Ave beads are 6mm silver grey Swarovski pearls, and the Pater Noster beads are 8mm purple velvet Swarovski crystals flanked with copper caps. They are strung on 49-strand flexible steel wire with silver-lined grey glass seed beads and bronze Charlotte seed beads.

The reverse side of the Our Lady of Lourdes center is the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The center and the crucifix are solid bronze, hand cast from vintage pieces.
