Due to unemployment, and thus financial hardship, I have changed my policy of not adding labor cost to my rosaries. I hope that you can understand why this is necessary and will continue to support my apostolate. At this time I need to support my family with my skills and resources. I have not added much to the cost of each item -- not as much as most vendors would, doubling or tripling their cost -- but just enough to contribute a small amount to my family's income.
This beautiful little bird's nest necklace is made to order. The necklace pictured is made with 22 gauge non-tarnishing silver wire, a 22" sterling silver chain, and blue iris Czech glass beads.
If you would like any variation on this necklace -- longer chain, more "eggs", etc., please contact me to work out the details of your necklace. The number of beads, the color of the beads, different combinations of beads, and smaller beads, for a larger number of "eggs," can all be adjusted, but contact me before purchasing. Length of chain can be changed as well, but price may be affected. This necklace is available in my shop.
My first signature item --I've never had a signature item before, but when this idea cam over me, and then the result turned out to be as beautiful as I imagined, I decided it would be my first signature item. It is the Everlasting Covenant bracelet.
"Then he waited another seven days, and sent forth the dove; and she did not return to him any more...God said to Noah, 'I set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.'" Gen 8:12, 9:13-15
This beautifully vibrant bracelet is a lovely reminder of the Covenant God made with man, by sending us the miracle of the rainbow in the sky after a storm.
The bracelet is made with a variety of Swarovski crystals, in rounds, bicones, and squares of many sizes and colors. In between the crystals are a variety of sterling silver bead caps, and beads. The many types of crystals and silver parts is representative of the variety of the many creatures Noah took on his ark. In the front center of the bracelet dangles a 20 x 11mm sterling silver dove with an olive branch charm -- the dove that represented the end of Noah's storm. Except for the dove charm and clasp, each bracelet is unique -- different from all the others.
The beads are strung on a flexible steel wire and the clasp is a 13.6x6.4mm sterling silver lobster clasp. This item and other items of religious jewelry, rosaries, chaplets and scapulars are available at my Etsy Shop.
“He was chosen by the eternal Father as the trustworthy guardian and protector of his greatest treasures, namely, his divine Son and Mary, Joseph’s wife. He carried out this vocation with complete fidelity until at last God called him, saying: ‘Good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord.’” -- St. Bernardine of Siena
This beautiful blue tenner rosary honors Our Lord's earthly father, patron of our earthly fathers, workers and unborn children.
It is made with 6mm Swarovski capri blue crystals, hand wrapped with 20 gauge vintage bronze wire. The Our Father is an 8mm Swarovski irridescent capri blue crystal cradled with beautiful filigree bronze bead caps. The Our Father bead and the medal are set apart with 4mm bicone Swarovski irridescent capri blue crystals.
The crucifix is a small 1-1/8" bronze crucifix, and the medal is 3/4" -- an image of St. Joseph holding the Infant Jesus, and both are solid bronze, hand-cast from vintage pieces.
A tenner rosary is a perfect rosary to keep in one's pocket or car for prayer "on the go." This rosary and others are available in my Etsy shop.
"Blue Iris, also called Sword Lily, from its sword-like foliage, was regarded as a symbol of Our Lady's Sorrows according to Simeon's words to Mary during the Presentation of Jesus in the temple: "And a sword shall pierce thy soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed". -- University of Dayton Marian Library
This rosary, with the image of Our Blessed Mother at its center, is the perfect rosary for the woman in your life, or a gift for yourself. It would also be a beautiful Confirmation gift or for a neophyte at Easter, or even Mother's Day.
The beads are 6mm fire-polished round Czech glass, in a color called blue iris -- with shades from teal green, leaf green, midnight blue, deep purple and plum. The colors are more vivid that I was able to catch with a camera lens. The beads are linked with nickel pins and chain.
The center and crucifix are nickel. The center is 3/4" and the crucifix is 2".
The rosary comes in a white gift box. Visit my Etsy shop to this and more rosaries and reigious jewelry.
Devotees of the Seven Sorrows chaplet -- I have three new Seven Sorrows Chaplets in my shop. For those who are unfamiliar with this form of prayer, this devotion was instituted in the 13th century in honor of the Seven Sorrows the Blessed Virgin Mary endured by her Divine Son. It is practiced upon a Chaplet made up of seven times seven beads, each section of seven beads are divided from the rest by larger or different beads, representing the seven principal sorrows of her life.
See the listings in my shop for more information on each chaplet.
While it is still Lent by the liturgical calendar and Easter is still over a month away, right around the corner is First Holy Communion season and I bet if you have a son or daughter who is making his or her First Holy Communion, you're starting to plan. That's why I was so happy when Noori Dresses contacted me and asked me if I would like to give away a First Holy Communion dress on my blog.
Noori Dresses is a California company that specializes in special occasion dresses at reasonable prices (I wish I had known about them last year when I was sewing dresses for junior bridesmaids and a flower girl!). They also specialize in great customer service, and I guess it shouldn't surprise me that they reached out to me to offer a free dress to one of my readers. When I actually voiced that the offer sounded too good to be true, a representative of the company said, "Instead of spending advertising budget on a media firm, it is better that the money is going to a Catholic, who are our customers." I quite agree. They have a wide range of styles available in First Communion dresses, from very fru fru to very simple, and everything in between.
I love all the layers on this one.
And the pin tucks on this one -- so sweet.
And this embroidered bodice with full skirt...stunning.
The dresses pictured here are just a small sample of what is available at their website. The winner of the giveaway can choose any dress priced under $79.99 and Noori Dresses will ship it directly to you. And if you don't win, well you can still get a beautiful dress for a great price. They have veils, jackets and shoes available, too.
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment here on my blog, and be sure to leave a way to get in touch with you. You can also email me at momoffthegrid(at)gmail(dot)com (don't forget to replace (at) and (dot) with the symbols).
If you want to be entered twice, you can promote my Etsy Shop Mary Devotions (which happens to be stocked with rosaries for boys and girls, jewelry, and scapulars) on your blog or on Facebook. Just tell me in the comment box that you've done so and I'll enter you twice (or three times if you promote my shop on FB and your blog).
The name will be chosen on March 11 at noon -- and remember, the more you promote my shop, the better your chances.
It's the sacrament season -- Confirmation and First Holy Communion. I have started to stock my Etsy shop with rosaries, so please pop in if you need a gift for your favorite young Catholic. A few examples of what I have in my shop:
